As a specialist in essential oil products, our team often get asked many different questions by our customers. So let us share with you some of these important questions and answers to help you on your holistic journey!
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts taken from different parts of a plant. These parts could be from the leaves, barks, flowers, et cetera, and often capture the plant’s natural aromatics. Usually, this extraction involves different processes, such as distillation or cold pressing.
The benefits you stand to gain from essential oils depend on the type of oil you are using and whether it is pure essential oil. Different essential oil offers various benefits – for example, using lavender essential oil will help you relax, while lemon essential oil helps with your skin issues and may reduce morning sickness. To best understand the benefits of a specific essential oil, we recommend researching thoroughly before using them.
Generally, essential oils are introduced to the body through inhalation via the mucous membranes (this is usually through a diffuser) or topically applied on the skin. They reach the bloodstream and organs through these methods. Essential oils are commonly diffused, allowing the scent molecules to reach the olfactory nerves and the brain, the emotion control centre. As the brain controls the production of your hormones and influences your immune system, the molecules from the essential oil can then have an impact on your mood and energy levels.
While most essential oils are generally safe for use, there are precautions that you may need to take.
Firstly, we recommend doing a patch test before applying any essential oil products directly to your skin. This is to ensure that you do not develop any reaction to it. If you are applying it for your children, please always do a patch test before using any product.
Secondly, we advise you not to overuse the essential oils – always start small and remember, a few drops go a long way! If you are diffusing or applying topically, do follow the recommended guidelines. At Kidz Paradize, we have formulated our products to be safe for use even for infants as the ratio of our oils have been tried and tested to ensure effectiveness and safety.
Thirdly, avoid any essential oils to which you may be allergic, especially when using blends. Be sure to check the ingredients listed in any product before use. If you develop any reaction to any essential oil products, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor.
We always advise everyone to exercise caution when using essential oils.
Pure essential oils are highly concentrated and potent. As such, it is recommended that you dilute them in either a carrier oil, such as jojoba or grapeseed oil, or a carrier cream. This is to prevent any adverse reaction to the essential oils, especially if you use them for children.
There are a plethora of essential oils available in the market. The most commonly used ones include, but is not limited to:
