Mixing Your Own Essential Oil Blends

Essential oils have been used by many for different purposes. Every single oil carries its own properties of aiding in healing, relieving symptoms, enhancing moods, et cetera. However, essential oil blends can bring about positive results for your mind, body, and soul when combined correctly!

How Do I Make My Own Essential Oil Blend?

Making a blend is not just about adding drops of your favourite essential oils with a carrier oil or cream. In fact, essential oil blending is a science of its own! To have your blend be effective, you need to mix the right combination of the different single oils to ensure that it works for the ailment or situation you are aiming to use it for. By understanding the purpose of the blend you are creating, you will be able to make an informed decision on which oils to add.

To get to this point of making your blend, you will need to do intensive research as to what the benefits of each oil are! For example, the lavender essential oil has its own unique properties to promote relaxation, while lemongrass essential oil can be used as a cleaning agent, and tea tree essential oil can be used as a natural antiseptic! Remember, knowledge of the oils you are dealing with is pretty important to ensure your blends are a success!

Picking Out Your Notes

Every essential oil blend features a top note, middle note and base note, so you will have to select these notes according to your preferred scent and the properties you want in your blend. Following that, ensure that you have clean bottles (preferably with a roll-on function for ease of use) to store your blends. We always recommend starting small by mixing a few drops of each essential oil first before you start churning out bigger batches. It would be ideal to begin your blending journey with a drop of the base note, 3 drops of the middle note, and a drop of the top note. The recommended formula would feature a ratio of 1:4, meaning 1 part essential oil to 4 parts carrier oil.

However, remember, making your own blend is a game of trial and error sometimes. It is best that you monitor the results over a few weeks before declaring your blend a success. If your blend is not bringing about the desired results, then you might want to consider tweaking your recipes or introducing new essential oils that may be beneficial.
