USING YOUR ESSENTIAL OIL PRODUCTS SAFELY & CORRECTLY

Essential oils are now quite commonly found in many households and may be used for different purposes. For some, essential oils are their go-to for any common ailments, such as cough, body aches, tummy relief, and more. Others may choose to use it as a fragrance for their homes, coupled with a diffuser, or include them in DIY sprays for cleaning or disinfecting.

The usage of essential oils is highly versatile, but did you know that you should also exercise caution when using them? Let us share some important tips about essential oil safety that you should never forget before using them!

Applying Essential Oils Topically

Essential oils are naturally very potent, as it is highly concentrated. Due to its potency, the effects of the oils are enhanced. However, applying your essential oil of choice directly onto your skin is not advisable as it can irritate your skin. We always advise our customers to add essential oils to a carrier cream or oil, such as grapeseed or jojoba.

It is also important to know how much essential oil you should add to your carrier cream or oil, as there are generally different recommendations for different oils. The measurement of the essential oil changes depending on the formula you are preparing and who the formula is for (whether it is for a child or an adult). Generally, if you are preparing it for immediate use, a few drops of essential oil will suffice to blend into your cream or oil. Do not forget to do a patch test first before applying any essential oil, even if it is diluted, onto your skin!

However, if you prefer already formulated products, which are tried and tested, you can browse through our online store and check out our cream-based balms and oil-based blends and discover why they are loved by many!

Diffusing Your Essential Oil

Experts usually recommend between 3 to 5 drops of pure essential oil for every 100ml of water for those who prefer to diffuse their essential oils. If your diffuser is bigger in water capacity, you can add more drops accordingly. Generally, the larger diffusers are designed for bigger spaces to allow better permeation of the essential oils. However, if your room is smaller and you are using a bigger capacity diffuser, please do not add in too many drops of essential oil, as you will overwhelm your space with the scent.

It is crucial to understand that you should not add too many drops when diffusing, especially if infants or young children are in the room. Essential oils, such as camphor oil or wintergreen oil, should not be used around the little ones. Please always do your research, or drop us a message to learn more before using any essential oil. Our team is always ready to help you or share any information with you!
